Dear all,
I have downloaded and am in the process of preparing 3,370 compounds that inhibit TB (whole organism assays) with an MIC (minimal inhibitory concentration) < 1 microMolar for docking against 2,580 models of TB proteins (65% of the proteome) created by Sir Tom Blundell's group in Cambridge. This will create ~87m docking calculations that will need to be done by the BOINC server to try to find the target protein for each of these compounds.
We should have this ready by mid Jan 2014.
I hope you'll all stay with us until then.
Have a fabulous Christmas holiday.
ciao,
Ant
ps: Initially we'll use the FM@H server until we have a new FTB@H server in place.

Is FTB@H going to be its own BOINC project?

Hurry, hurry, hurry up (Christmas). :)

I look forward to the new FTB@home web site. When it becomes available, please remember to include instructions on how to reset our server connections so we can participate in the expanded and improved project.

You might want to give some thought to generalizing the project name as I'm sure there are a lot of compounds that might be effective against a lot of diseases which could have their docking calculations computed here.

I'll focus on another project and will plan to continue here with your new project in January with periodic glances at this board just in case.

Enjoy your Christmas and New Years!

I haven't had tatsks running for over 2 weeks

Do I have to make ant changes to participate in FightTB?

What"s going on?

There are computers I have signed up for FightMalaria@Home that I do not have routine access to, like those owned by out of state relatives. It would be great if you could send workunits out over the FMAH configuration for as long as feasible.

You could also add two more BOINC projects on these PCs. Leave FMAH on 100% and put the other two on 0%: then they will only download tasks when FMAH has no work available.

Yes, I think it´s a great idea, too.

Ant, whats about the Wu running time, is it ~6-15 minutes, too?

I would try the following: You might use one of the following two programs if you can get approval from your relatives. LogMein program or TeamViewer program. Both are free for personal use. TeamViewer has the ability to be used in Windows, Mac and Linux OS. This is the one that I do for control of my headless accounts without a monitor hooked up. Just a suggestion to help you out. Good luck.

Maybe the new year will bring us some feedback from Ant Chubb given all these questions and suggestions... :-)

Ant, Regarding the imminent switch from Malaria to TB, instead of constantly renaming the project web pages every time a new "Fight" comes along, I would make the name a neutral one, such as FightIt@Home or FightingDisease@Home or something along those lines.
Just a thought.

We could just leave it as "FightTB" for "Fight This Boss"

Ant,
Can you provide us an update on when WU's will be flowing again?
Thanks

Message 1233 - Posted: 21 Jan 2014, 13:55:23 UTC

I am still staying with you.
Ditto to xyzzy: can you give a date, so I can stop my needless checking? Thanks.
