Sorry for the delay in responding to your messages.

We have compiled all the data into a single database (no mean feat as it's now 118GB!) due to our limited resources this was spread over a number of HDs. The FM@H data is 95% complete. Kevin is in the process of pulling out the remaining failed dockings for re-docking on the BOINC server.

The new name of the server will be FiND@Home for FightNeglectedDiseases@Home. Over the summer we'll build a website front-end for the data, that will be searchable and interlink with other online resources (e.g. Uniprot/PDB/KEGG). This should make the data easily accessible for biologists interested in exploring the output data. We'll build it with future BOINC data from other genomes in mind (e.g. TB).

Many thanks for hanging in there for us...
Ant

ps: We would appreciate it if users do not bad-mouth other projects, as we do not want to have to act as social police. The reason we're NOT concentrating on these boards at the moment is because we're trying to concentrate on getting the data we have into a presentable format for publication. And to focus on validation studies.

Thanks for the update Ant.

Thanks for the update.

Godspeed with this enormous undertaking.

However two key questions still remain:

Since you give no date at all, does this mean that it will be several more months work units will be available?

The new name of the server will be
does this mean registered participants will have to attach to the new project (name)?

(reply by posting info to the homepage is appreciated!)

BTW Ant, this new thread didn't appear as a notice in my BOINC Manager. Just an FYI.

Sadly, I am months behind my own schedule! I had hoped to finish the paper before the end of 2013, but that clearly did not happen. As soon as it's in an acceptable format for publication, I'll deposit the manuscript here:
http://biorxiv.org/
and the raw data here:
https://www.ebi.ac.uk/chemblntd

I'll keep everyone posted.

ciao,
Ant

Message 1307 - Posted: 15 Mar 2014, 13:38:47 UTC - in response to Message 1299.

Good morning Ant:

I was pleasantly surprised to see an update just as I was about to pull the plug on Fight Malaria. I've been looking for instructions on how to move to the FiND@Home server and I don't see any. I also don't see the "FiND" project in the BAM! project list.

Please provide instructions on how to switch to the new server (i.e. edit file..., etc.) so we can sign up as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Brian S. Wilson

Very happy to hear the raw data will be available for all as public data. That is a big reason why I have joined with Boins - its not just one group that gets the data as it could be useful in other ways to other people as well.

Cheers and I'll check here off and on to see when updates come through.

Hi Brian,

Kevin will hopefully be able to change the name of the FM@H server directly, so no one will need to do anything... hopefully!

Thanks,
Ant

Hi Ant,

I hope this will be done in a few days. I wanna test my new computer for this project. I hope you will proceed some large GPU-App´s too. (Please with CUDA and OpenCL) ;)

And: Don´t forget the batch monitor. ;)

Greetings,
Aurel

yep - pretty scary that a person gets infected with TB somewhere in the world EVERY TWO SECONDS! Would be fantastic if we could come up with new drugs to combat this horrid disease. Sadly the server install and reconfigure is taking longer than we'd hoped. But it's great that the enthusiasm to help is still strong. Please bear with us for a bit longer, and I can assure you there will be millions of docking calculations to do. They are ready to go... as soon as the server set-up can be finalized.
ciao,
Ant

Yes and it happens everywhere. Recent cases here in Canada bear that out.

Hi Ant,

some bad Facts over TB:
http://www.thelancet.com/tuberculosis2014
http://www.who.int/tb/publications/global_report/en/

One Million People under 15 years are infected. :( Over 450.000 People worldwide are infected wiht MDR-TB.
Isoniazid and Rifampicin can´t help, so this People need our help.

Question: What´s with MRSA, will we computed for this solving, too?

EDIT: Can you say us, what diseases will "fight"? I see we have an new epidemic with Ebola, 50 People died, Canada and Guinea are infected. Deathrate at 90%.

Greets,
Aurel

Will this mean that our accounts and credits will automatically transfer to FiND@H?

And all power to you Ant, I'm struggling to even write my first chapter...

Hi Steve,

that meens we (the "users") must do nothing. The server has only another name. :)
The project will be Re-Named. ;)

Greets,
Aurel
