Dear all,

The long awaited revamp of the FM@H server has finally happened - thanks to Benjamin. And thanks to the generous donations that we collected at the http://www.gofundme.com/1l0u2o website we were able to buy another SSD to build the FiND@H server on. This should be super-fast and will allow us to venture into different diseases beyond malaria, using the same 'whole genome docking' approach.

We should have the first work-units ready within a week or two.

Thanks again for your patience.

ciao,
Ant

Would that mean that this project will get sub-projects, like e.g. World Community Grid, Yoyo or PrimeGrid? Will we be able to get badges too?

Hi,

The project will be the same, but the data will change.

The next batch of data is related to tuberculosis, I don't know about the next next, but it could be Ebola for instance.

Badges, sure! I like the idea! I have to look at how to do that though.

Ben

Hi Ben,

Glad to hear that progress has been made on the project. I was wanting to know something maybe a little off topic, maybe not. Have you been running test on the machines of the possible Work units in how fast they might be on completion and the coming requirements and if the main webpage needs to be updated with these needed requirements.

I know that I like this project a whole lot because I can use some of my oldest but reliable machines without too many requirements taxing the resources. They could range in run time from 6 minutes to an hour in computation and I could also run them within a Virtual Machine if needed. Have a great holiday if you have one like the U.S. in the states this weekend. I look forward to having this project up and going again very soon.

Thanks,

Timothy Dickey

Hi,

It depends which molecules your are computing.

On my i7-4710HQ, it can take 10 sec or 2 minutes (using all the 8 cores).

Interesting. there are 2 sites for this project:

12/1/2014 10:46:01 AM | fightmalaria@home | update requested by user
12/1/2014 10:46:03 AM | fightmalaria@home | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
12/1/2014 10:46:03 AM | fightmalaria@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU and AMD/ATI GPU
12/1/2014 10:46:06 AM | fightmalaria@home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
12/1/2014 10:46:06 AM | fightmalaria@home | Project is temporarily shut down for maintenance
12/1/2014 10:46:11 AM | FiND@Home | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
12/1/2014 10:46:11 AM | FiND@Home | Requesting new tasks for CPU and AMD/ATI GPU
12/1/2014 10:46:12 AM | FiND@Home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
12/1/2014 10:46:12 AM | FiND@Home | Project is temporarily shut down for maintenance

Are they BOTH going to be actively used some future date?
Please advise, which one will keep updates.
Otherwise I'll be wasting computer time seeking updates on both.

Hi,

@Robert Spry
You have boinc.ucd.ie and findah.ucd.ie, but those are exactly the same server.
It's weird that you have the ancient name though

You can delete fightmalaria@Home.

@rebirther
We don't have a bitcoin wallet yet. I'll create one for the project, but it's not my top priority now. But thank you very much :)

Hurrah my patience in leaving you open has been rewarded with 5 WU. Unfortunately the downloads failed due to "permanent HTTP error" according to the event log, see below. You are fast Oo

Sorry for that, but don't worry. I tried to lock the web server but the cgi was still accessible. It was for testing purposes.

The WU are nearly ready!

The bug was with the file deleter. We are sharing files between WU but the file deleter daemon delete files after the completion of WU. So the new WU can't access the files...

That's ok. I locked the scheduler to find the source of the bug.

The new WU are going to be online tomorrow.
