Possibly the wrong thread but updated scores do not seem to be showing on BOINCSTATS, is this a project issue or a central BOINC issue, last update seems to be last Saturday/Sunday.

I look at BOINCSTATS every day. The FIND@Home stats are updated once a day and I have not seen any change in this. Not sure why you are not seeing the updates.

Message 2614 - Posted: 1 Oct 2015, 13:26:38 UTC - in response to Message 2574.

I'm running three projects and happy to be a part of this one. It's been a week or more since I crunched numbers. Are there not enough work units to go around? Is the project still in 'full swing'?
Is there an 'optimal' setting for the computer configuration to get work when it is available?
thanks.

I don't know any optimal settings, to me it seems like luck of the draw. I have a hex core which hasn't seen any tasks since the morning of the 29th of September. I also have a quad core which has completed over 3600 units since that time. Both are Windows 7 machines and attached to the same 3 Boinc projects.

I have noticed that the more consecutive "misses" or requests for work which return "no work available" you get, the longer it is until the next request. Meanwhile, if you get "hits", then you'll be checking for work more frequently. And sometimes you get lucky on a request and pull 50-100 units. Not only will you have a nice buffer, but you'll probably be frequently checking server for new work as you continue to chew through your queue. On the quad, only 1 of the last 5 requests was a hit, but since it continues to report work, those requests are only a minute apart. On the hex, if the queue is empty and I've already had a few misses, another miss may cause me to wait 6 hours before checking again. It could take the hex more than a day to even see that 20% success rate.

Finally got some more work!!! yay, had to keep hitting update but now I can forget BOINC for awhile. Climateprediction has to monitored or it will fill up all your slots with 103 hour projects and my poor Toshiba Satellite would take forever to work through them.

06/10/2015 11:28:25 | FiND@Home | Project has no tasks available

Is the generator not making them fast enough or have they run out?

Set Climate Predictio9n to a zero resource share and it will ONLY get work when your other, higher resources share, projects are out of work. And then ONLY enough work to do what you need right NOW, not enough to 'fill the cache'. You do that under Your Account, Preferences for this project.

Hi.

Looks like I came back late to the party, it's been so long.

Good to see you back, but not enough work around I'm able to get any.

I have a 1 day buffer and easily hit that limit.

I think we burned through the batch of 57 million tasks. Don't know if more will be coming sooner or later.

Still some millions to go. I'm putting 4M WUs :)

Edit: 2,484,516 WUs still in my queue.

Too many users and not enough workunits, Ben is working on it.

So, when you posted this on 19 Oct, are you saying we still had 6,484,516 workunits to go? I just did a quick calculation based on the WU number of the most recent one I received and the one on a WU I received 24 hours ago. I estimate we are doing about 500,000 to 550,000 WU/day. At that rate the WUs would last about 13 days. That would mean we'd be done with those 6 million plus WUs on 1 Nov or so. Probably a few days more because of the DB crash that had the project down for a few days this past weekend.

That's my guess

Looks like you might have underestimated! I haven't been able to get a new WU for most of today! Either we have chomped through all those, or I've been very unlucky, or something else has gone wrong!

Looks like that was the 4 million Ben added on 19 Oct. Guessing he still has 2.6 million left that need to be added to the queue.
