I believe that's the end of the 57 million. Waiting to hear what's next. Meanwhile I'm crunching for my backup project, DENIS@Home, but still looking for anything new that appears here.

I'm happy to see we processed all that work and it can now all be analyzed. But sad my computers are no longer crunching FiND - it's a great project which runs well with little hardware requirements. I'll miss seeing FiND in my queue. (Yes, I'm an odd duck.)
I'll definitely keep the gates open for any repair work or any new research which comes down the pipeline.

I find it great that a site like this has periods where there are no new work units. This indicates and suggest to me that the staff takes the time to evaluate what they received, and hopefully design the next batch of work to further their investigations. I would much rather have my computer crunching work that is appreciated AND USED! If there is no new work, go on to another site and help those folks out!

When the site goes a while without having work, is there any chance of either sending an email or adding a notice to the BOINC client to let us know that there is new work. While you don't have work, I've given your resource share to other projects so my BOINC client won't be asking for work and I'll need to give this project a resource share again to get it to ask for work.

Couldn't you use the RSS feed for news? That would a method that would not require an individual solution for this project, it is a BOINC-builtin so it wouldn't need to be reinstalled after a server side BOINC update.

As other projects do not have it either, it seems not to be a BOINC thing. it probably doesn't belong to BOINC. It could be some small version of the project logo or just a GIF version of http://findah.ucd.ie/img/rss_icon.gif.

Hi All,
Here's a brief update. We are finished with the main docking calculations and now need to analyse all the data from the full 19,000 compounds vs 1530 proteins in malaria, AND the TB work that we snuck in also. So loads of analysis needed on this side.
I'm now employed at a different institution - RCSI - but still have a toehold on the project through Ben who is still at UCD and whom I still see occasionally. The servers are all still running well in UCD, thanks to Ben. I have set up a strong collaboration with Matt Blumberg in Boston - a company called GridRepublic which uses BOINC-like computation for charitable work (Charity Engine). Matt has kindly offered to host the FiND@H project on his servers, so we'll find a safe place to keep this work going in the future. There are loads more pathogens out there, and we have a great system in place to identify novel targets, so I'm as keen as ever to keep this going.
We are applying for funding to set up an automated validation pipeline that will take the data from FM@H and send it directly into a robotic in vitro protein expression, purification and testing facility. Well that's the plan at any rate! It'll take us a while to get this set up (funding cycles, programming to connect to APIs, molecular biology protocol set-up and validation, etc.). But I'm very confident that each of these steps is feasible. We just need time and cash!

So please bear with us. We're trying to validate these virtual results in the laboratory so that we can safely tell the world about them. The initial data is already available here: http://chemware.ucd.ie/FiNDaH/Malaria.php.
But it would be unsafe to declare new targets without real laboratory based validation studies. If we do, we risk sending other scientists off in the wrong direction, which could waste valuable research funding (paid for by taxpayers).
Thanks again for all your help and support. When we transfer over to GridRepublic we'll tell you all about it on this forum.

My very best wishes in finding funding.
You write that it would be unsafe to declare new targets without in vitro validation studies.
Given how quickly we've been able to get work through the pipeline, have you considered running simulations against a few extra targets, and then NOT publishing the results until after the Malaria study is validated?
You can mark them as Beta units, so that only people who are cool with that will use their CPU time.
Best case scenario, we can get a running start on another disease target. Otherwise, we're a little worse off than we would have been had we waited.

Ant, its good to know that the work was a success.
It sounds that your continuing work would be hosted on something other than BOINC. If that is so then I will be saying goodbye.
I only want to manage one platform on my computer networks.

Yesterday, I tried to fix some log errors by removing the project, then subscribing to it again. The server isn't letting me update enough to download my project share instead of leaving it set to 100.

Would there be useful tasks available if the server is restarted? If not, I'd probably find it more useful to remove the project from my computers and not attempt to add it again.

We currently have nothing to crunch. I know that Ant is speaking with GridRepublic about restarting the project with new server, new data, new staff but I've no idea when this is coming.
